Elul is a special time to connect with G-d as we can see from the acronym אלול which spells out the phrase, "אני לדודי ודודי לי." "I am to my Beloved as my Beloved is to me." During this month, when the King is in the field - He makes it so easy for us to connect with Him, it's like looking into a mirror and seeing our Beloved's face with as much as love in it as is in our own.
